It’s not right. It’s just not fair.
I mean, if you’re in an abusive relationship what’s the right thing to do?
Leave, right? Go somewhere safe, where the hurting stops and healing begins.
Well, put yourself in His shoes.
He made men and women for love. Yep, that’s your primary purpose. To be loved by God, and to love Him back. But I digress.
He made man to love Him. So He was lonely up there in heaven. I get it. I’ve felt lonely (and still do more often than I care to admit).
So, what’s His creation do? Runs the other way. Immediately, we started doing things that alienated us from Him. Things that hurt us. And Him. Big time. We dashed His hopes on the rocks of loving gods that are not gods.
I know, it’s sick. People actually worship stones and wood carvings and stuff instead of God. What the what? You’d cling to a stone rather than to someone who truly, unconditionally loves you?
So what does He do? Run away? Hide? Nope. Not God. Not Him.
He didn’t seek protection. In fact, He ran the other way. He ran toward the source of His pain. Into the fray. You see, we were in trouble. Big trouble. Deep trouble. And He did everything to bail us out.
That’s how much He loves you. That’s how much He desires you. You. It doesn’t matter, just like it doesn’t matter for anyone else, what you’ve done. It doesn’t matter that you don’t know how to love Him back. He’s patient. Luckily, He’s eternal. He’s got plenty of time. He’ll teach you, if you let Him.
It’s time to put down the stone. Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, stop. Take a moment, close your eyes, take a deep breath, and think of God. With your heart send Him some love. Give Him a love message.
And watch what happens. He is so ready to love you back!
