Kill the Cosmos with Kindness

Child-flowerWhat is it about kindness that makes it so hard to come by?

You know, the world out there…that one that you were born into. You are who you are because it helped shape you. It is a system, a process that trains and conditions people to live life according to its rules.

Cosmos: The systematized order of the world. The rule of the governing forces of this world.

Every day, as I watch what people fed by the world, I struggle to figure out what we are doing. Do you ever wonder about this? The nightly news summarizes the fruit of our best efforts. Or, take a look at today’s paper. How much of it is good news???

My daughter gives me things that she likes: little flowers, pretty rocks, shells from the beach. She instinctively knows how to show her love for me by kindness, generosity, and thoughtfulness. It makes my day and inspires me. I want to be like her.

The things that the people of our world can learn from children! How different the news would be!

This thought today is for myself, but I want to share it with you, too.

This day, be kind to others. Think about who you will see. Where you will go. Prepare your mind for when someone makes a mistake. Surely they didn’t mean it. Maybe that waitress needs a smile much more than a scathing remark. Or your coworker needs a flower more than your angry words. And surely your spouse wants a seashell that says it all: I love you, you are worth a lot to me. I think of you all the time.

Kindness counts. Let’s make it a prevailing force in the world. Kill the cosmos with kindness.
